Life isn't black and white

I love string quilts.  I do not love piecing the blocks.  I had hoped to supplemement the blocks made by the gang in our virtual quilting bee to make a bigger top but, well, I ran out of green.  Even the blocks on the back are from a flickr block swap.  In fact, I think the back might be my favorite.  Now to figure out what I am going to do with it.  I mean, really, how many quilts does a toddler need?  I did all the quilting in square / diamond shapes to mimic the shape created by the green strips.  Finished size ~46" x 48".

Oh, the white-ish blur on the lower left corner?  Yea, that would be a sticky toddler fingerprint on the camera lens.  Corrected now but I am too lazy to go and take more photos.

  1. In answer to how many quilts...as many as you want to make :)

  2. I love it! Both sides are very pretty. I love the pop of color on each side. Great job. Keep cranking out quilts in whatever size you want. ;)

  3. I love it, and I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hates piecing string quilts. I've got one that I'm taking a break from because I ridiculously thought I should make it for my bed. Yeah, crazy. I'm going to pull it out in a few weeks and get it done once and for all. You've inspired me!

  5. Love how that quilt top ended up looking! Sad to say that I only just have visited the Another Quilting Bee flickr page today, and saw your photo there :)

  6. I love the look of your quilt! I am going to make myself a black and white quilt and have been looking all over online for a pattern and I really like this one. Could you tell me where you got your pattern?

  7. Both sides are really pretty. You're really smart to make two-sided quilts if you are coming close to having "enough" quilts. I'm really not sure what "enough" means, since I tend to keep making more. You can switch to making smaller wall quilts or bigger bed quilts, or simply donate a bunch to a charity or organization. I made sure each of my family members got a quilt (siblings, nephews, nieces), and some friends got quilts if they did something big like get married or had a baby.

  8. Saw this on Facebook today and thoroughly enjoyed both front and back. There are never enough quilts - donations are in order, perhaps one of the older ones if the newer strikes our fancy. Our Ladies mission group is making quilts for 22 young men in a boys' home ministry. Each one done with love and prayer. Nope - there are never "enough." Thanks for sharing yours. (By the way, this is really ~46 x 48 ?)

  9. Sewing string blocks? I was excited at first then after about the first 20 or so, not so fun. Mine is black and white with a little orange thrown in. It will be donated to a chemo center. Quilts for kids is a great place to donate. My next smaller string quilt will go to them.

  10. Love your quilt with the black, whites & greens. And I agree....sewing strings does get tiring.
